Treatment & Methods

Parabolic Physical Therapy Graston Technique

Graston Technique

The Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). Our licensed physical therapists use this advanced technique to effectively break down scar tissue and other connective tissue abnormalities that may be restricting your muscle and joint movement. With the Graston Technique®, our therapists are able to deliver improved diagnostic treatment to detect major and minor tissue problems, reduce pain and stress.

Any areas with soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation are then treated to restore muscle and joint function and mobility.

Clients who receive Graston Technique® therapy benefit from shorter treatment times and faster recoveries. Treatment also may reduce the need for anti-inflammatory medication, and help to resolve chronic conditions that were previously believed to be permanent. If you are looking for Graston Technique® treatment in New Jersey, come talk to our elite sports medicine experts to learn more.

Myofascial Release (MFR)

Chronic pain is frequently due to the presence of myofascial pain. With myofascial pain, trigger points or “knots” in the muscles cause tightness and pain in multiple, sometimes seemingly unrelated areas of the body. Myofascial pain may be caused by overuse or stress-induced muscle tension.

Our physical therapists use a technique called Myofascial Release (MFR) to relieve chronic myofascial pain and restricted movement. Myofascial Release is a soft tissue therapy that effectively relieves muscle pain and restores mobility. It is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to elongate fascia, a layer of connective tissue that covers muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, veins, and internal organs.

A high percentage of people who suffer pain or reduced range of motion may have fascial problems that have gone undiagnosed. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and surgical procedures can create myofascial problems that don’t appear in many standardized tests, including x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, and electromyography.

During your personal assessment, your physical therapist can determine if you will benefit from having MFR included in your treatment plan. You can also visit one of our two facilities in Montclair, New Jersey or Little Falls, New Jersey to learn more about Myofascial Release.

TeleParabolic Physical Therapy

The Parabolic approach to performance training comprises one goal: enabling each client to reach their peak performance level while reducing the risk of injury. Our certified Performance Coaches have experience training athletes in a wide variety of sports, and understand the necessary attributes to excel in each. During each client’s first session, one of our coaches will perform an initial movement assessment of their capabilities and identify areas of movement deficiencies in order to improve their movement variability and achieve their specific goals. The information gathered through the assessment is then compiled with the clients’ training history, injury history, and specific goals. A customized program is created addressing all pertinent performance parameters such as mobility, strength, power, speed, and overall movement quality.

If an incoming client has undergone injuries in the past, our coaches can work closely with our in-house physical therapists to ensure that each training session is enhancing performance while addressing any issues that may be contributing to any injuries or limitations.

Our Performance Coaches don’t just coach and instruct during sessions, they take the time to educate each and every client. The training and education at Parabolic gives each client a foundation of fitness knowledge to last a lifetime.
